^click photo to enlarge^ This is a Jules Pansu tapestry. The artwork comes from one of the first panoramic printed wall-papers. It is attributed to Julien Deltil, and was fist sold in 1830. This landscape depicts Brazil, with its tropical plants and exotic birds. Representations of faraway countries were much in fashion at the end of the 29th century in France. This vivid tropical dreamland is reminiscent of a water color in its execution and coloring. Two parrots and a cockatiel perch upon a tree amid lush green foliage, before a background of serene blue sky and waters populated with pink flamingos and tall reeds and distant palm trees.
