Based on a design by Jan van Huysum for the Duke of Mecklenburg circa 1740. Terracotta Floral Bouquet Black is a jacquard wall tapestry made in Belgium. Huysum (1682-1749) was a famous Dutch painter known as the most distinguished flower painter of his time several of his works are on display at the Louvre in Paris. His style was much imitated with the light colours he used, the even lighter backgrounds, and the openness of his intricate compositions became distinguishing features of 18th century Dutch floral still life paintings.
