It is a reproduction of a famous set of tapestries called Chasse a la Licorne, or The Hunt of the Unicorn from the late 15th century now on display at the Metropolitan Museum in New York. In the middle ages, this legendary animal was regarded as the symbol of purity. It is fastened by a golden chain to a tree bearing pomegranates, signifying marriage and fertility. The background is done in the millefleurs style upon a dark blue backdrop.
